GRADE PROGRESSION
PROCEDURE
The MN
Department of Education (MDE) has granted
CLY programs can earn over 1.0
ADM for funding. Students taking advantage of the CLY option allow the school to
earn up to 1.2 ADM for funding. Due to the school earning the additional funding
over the years, students must exit/graduate early after obtaining the required credits
needed to graduate. In addition, students must be coded as a senior
(based on their credit level) on the Skyward /MARSS Reporting System in order
to be eligible for graduation.
Families should take note that early graduation brings with it advantages but also that other ramifications may occur. Graduation means that a student is not longer a full time high school student and may affect car insurance rates or other insurance eligibility if the student is over “18” years old.
An important note is that Eligibility for PSEO ceases to exist when a student graduates from high school.
The
grid below details how students progress into the next
grade based on credits earned. This
process was passed by the
This
credit-based determination of grade level applies to the MCA-II testing each
year. Because of this, students must
adhere to information received concerning their testing requirements each
year. Students must attend all required
testing even if students have
taken a test in a prior year. For
example, if students took the 10th grade reading test last year but
have not progressed to 11th grade status, those students will be
required to take the 10th grade reading test again this year.

REVISION 2/12/08
This grid needs to be more flexible- propose we base grade on expected graduation date and a range of credits earned.
If a student enters with 12 credits and should be a 10th grader -they stay coded as a 10th grader. They will then take the 10th grade MCA Reading test.
If enter with 12 credits and should be a 11th grader -they are coded as 11th grader but know they will need to earn to jump to 12th grade. They will then take the 11th grade MCA Math test. If they enter with 11 credits they will be coded as a 10th grader and take 10 grade MCA
